Book of Proof
Next semester I am taking elementary number theory and writing proofs is something that I struggled with for a long time. My advisor uses this text book for his discrete math class and suggested it to me to read and refresh before going into the class.
The Important Parts
So far I have read up to chapter 4. The first few chapters are reviewing basic symbols and syntax for writing discrete math problems and chapter 4 gets into direct proofs. It is funny how much of the information you once knew like the back of your hand comes back to you just by skimming and doing a few problems.
This week I will move onto chapter 5 and 6 which is contrapositive proofs and proofs by contradiction. I also am reading this text book so that I can further understand research papers. I was trying to read a paper about the Distributed Discrete Gaussian Mechanism and had trouble comprehending the proofs written. I will put the link below.
